My name is Deogratias Sosta Urio, (Deo). I am a native of Tanzania, Africa. My love of this country, mountaineering, and nature has lead me to my career as a professional mountain guide. I am licensed with the National Park Service of Tanzania, certified by National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), and hold certifications in both Advanced Wilderness First Aid and Heart Saver CPR with SOLO.

I was born and raised at the slope of Mount Kilimanjaro, as a member of the Chagga Tribe in the Marangu Village. I have an in depth understanding of the history, people, and culture of Africa. For the past 14 years I have been a mountain guide leading people from around the world on the adventure of a lifetime to the highest mountain in Africa and the world’s highest free standing mountain – Mt Kilimanjaro, also known as 'The Roof of Africa'. I am the third person from Africa to try climbing Mount Everest up to 7,200 M.

Since 2002 I have had the opportunity to lead several groups of people with special needs. I have guided people with physical challenges as well as blind individuals, many of whom were able to make it to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Also, I had the opportunity to guide celebrities like Lady Jaydee (musician), players from West Ham United F.C., and staff from Manchester United F.C. I would be very happy to help you with your trip to Tanzania.
