Lodging with a cause

As part of Kilimanjaro and Beyond's efforts to promote social sustainability, before and after your Kilimanjoro climb you will stay at the Stella Maris Lodge. The Lodge and the adjacent Stella Maris English-Medium Primary School were built by the people of Mailisita in partnership with the Mailisita Foundation – a US-based orphan and vulnerable child relief organization. The income from the Lodge goes exclusively to paying the teachers and buying food for the children.

Gear Donation to Make a difference

Although many efforts are taken by independent organizations, and groups such as Kilimanjaro and Beyond to improve working conditions, it is still difficult for many porters to obtain mountain gear. Often the wage earns work as porters, meaning sickness or injury can result in ramifications felt throughout their immediate and extended family.
Kilimanjaro and Beyond supports, and supplements, efforts to distribute gear and equipment to help porters stay healthy and safe while working in the harsh Kilimanjaro environment. But, you can also help! After your climb you can leave any unwanted gear with us and we will distribute it to the porters. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated.
